The Directorate is responsible for coordination and management of programmes and activities in the adult education. Books for all in Kenya. Kenya has a strong network of over 60 public libraries which are used by hundreds of thousands of people. We provide carefully selected, brand new books in all of these libraries. These books range from the earliest readers for young children right through to health information and adult fiction.
Enrolment in adult education has been characterized by decline in the s, compared to the situation in the late s and the ‘80s. The decline has been attributed to low funding, negative attitude to the programme and an unsuitable curriculum that does not respond to the needs of the learners as well as shortage of teachers.
